Evening Shows

The ‘Imiloa Planetarium not only has a great array of daily planetarium full dome shows, but special evening programming like the 3D Hitchhikers Guide, and the popular monthly Maunakea Skies Lecture Series.

Third Saturday of the month: Starts at 7pm
Maunakea Skies

"Maunakea Skies" begins with the traditional tour of the night sky featuring stars, constellations and planets visible with the unaided eye. Following this a special guest presenter from one of the Maunakea observatories will share the latest research in astronomy using the 3D planetarium technology to "fly out" and explore these discoveries. Imagine traveling to planets, zipping through star clusters and nebulae, and exploring galaxies far beyond our own— all in true 3D stereo!

Starts at 7:30 PM on selected Thursdays
Hitch Hikers Guide

Audiences travel to our local planets and their moon systems, zip through the rings of Saturn, and explore the asteroids. Visit exoplanets orbiting other stars, explore nebulae and go far beyond to star clusters and other areas of our Milky Way galaxy. Travel beyond the Milky Way, into inter galactic space and explore our local group of galaxies, the Virgo cluster of galaxies to the farthest edge of the Universe.
