Join our team in a a day, 4 hour-per-day experience focused on science, math cultureand FUN! Topics include the Geometry of Nature, Space Science and Astronomy, Chemistry, Electronics, Physics, Inventions and more.Students in Grades 3,4, 5, and 6 (as of January 1, 2009.
Camp `Imiloa starts June 29 to July 3, 8:00 am to 12:00 noon.

Planetarium Show Awesome Light: Discoveries from the Telescope of Maunakea—Summer 2009
`Imiloa Astronomy Center announces its 3D planetarium program Awesome Light: Discoveries from the Telescopes of Maunakea ("Hawaii's Observatories") in Stereoscopic 3D. This collaborative production involving three Maunakea observatories- Gemini, Subaru, and Canada-France-Hawai'i is a a joint effort by local talent and photographers, Sky-Skan, and `Imiloa Astronomy Center.The show began on Saturday, Oct. 25, 2008 and will be offered daily, Tuesday through Sunday at 2 p.m.

Two Pieces of Glass: The Amazing Telescope, New Planetarium Show International Premier—Last showing Friday July 3, 2009
Imiloa will host the international premier of the new planetarium show Two Pieces of Glass, The Amazing Telescope Sunday February 15, 2009 at 1:00pm. This planetarium show will join ‘Imiloa’s regular line-up of shows for the next six months at the 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. timeslot.Produced to engage and appeal to audiences of all ages, Two Small Pieces of Glass, traces the history of the telescope from Galileo’s modifications to a child’s spyglass -- using two small pieces of glass -- to the launch of NASA’s Hubble Space Telescope and the future of astronomy. It explores the wonder and discovery made by astronomers throughout the last 400 years.
Two of the nation's most advanced planetariums, ‘Imiloa Astronomy Center and the Buhl planetarium at Carnegie Science Center in Pittsburgh, have partnered with Interstellar Studios, with ‘Imiloa as the lead planetarium, to produce Two Small Pieces of Glass: The Amazing Telescope. Thanks to funding from the National Science Foundation, the new planetarium show is part of a large project, “400 Years of the Telescope: A Journey of Science, Technology and Thought,” that also includes a PBS documentary program that will air nationally in April. Two Small Pieces of Glass: The Amazing Telescope will be shown in more 750 planetariums through out the country and internationally as part of the IYA 2009 celebration.

Long awaited Planetarium show the Wall comes to Imiloa—Friday, July 3, 2009
‘Imiloa raises The Wall in the Planetarium‘Imiloa Astronomy Center brings the long awaited planetarium show Pink Floyd’s The Wall to the Friday Night Rock Shows July 3, 2009. Shows are 7:30 and 9 p.m. each Friday with ticketing are $10. Special discounts for ‘Imiloa Members apply.
This classic Pink Floyd album is brought to life with stunning full-dome digital interpretation of the sounds and imagery of The Wall. The Pink Floyd rock opera album following the character “Pink” was release in 1979, and quickly rose to number one on the Billboard 200. Now audiences can have a complete immersive experience of the hit songs from Another Brick in the Wall Part 2, the melodic Comfortably Numb, to the over protective Mother, and the classic Run like Hell. This digital masterpiece from Starlight Productions leaves the audience wanting more when “Pinks” wall comes tumbling down.
Adult advisory, the subject matter for some songs and graphics may not be appropriate for kids. Not recommended for audiences under age 14.

Seven Wonders planetarium show premiere—Saturday July 4, 2009
`Imiloa Astronomy Center is proud to present the full-dome show "Seven Wonders" in the `Imiloa Planetarium. The show opens Saturday, July 4 showing at 1 pm and 3 pm. This show replaces the planetarium show Two Pieces of Glass the Amazing Telescope.Produced by Evans & Sutherland Digital Theater, "Seven Wonders" allows audiences to turn back the pages of time and witness the ancient wonders of the world as they have not been seen for thousands of years. The show will investigate the theories of how these wonders were created and get a glimpse of some of the universe's greatest wonders. Seven Wonders is narrated by British actor Sean Bean, who played Boromir in the feature film trilogy Lord of the Rings.

Keiki Kilohoku Korner Saturdays—Saturday June 11, 2009
Come enjoy Hands on Activity at the Keiki Kilohoku Korner (K-Cube) from 9:30 am to 11:00 pm. Thishands on activity will compliment the 10:00 am Saturday Keiki Planetarium show Secret of the Cardboard Rocket.The Kilohoku Keiki Korner activity will be "Make your own Pop Rocket."
Participants are encouraged top bring a penny and a, empty plastic 2 liter soda bottle for the launch. Activity is free for all Keiki visitors. Alot 15 minutes during your visit for the activity.

July Directors Lecture Series Talk- Dr. Gary Davis—Saturday, July 18 2009
Imiloa Astronomy Center and W.M. Keck Observatory celebrates the International Year of Astronomy (IYA) with the 2009 Directors' Lecture Series, a free lecture series at both centers.Dr. Gary Davis, Director of the Joint Astronomy Center, will be the guest speaker for Saturday July 18 presentation at 7:00pm at `Imiloa Astronomy Center.
“A Tale of Two Telescopes: Astronomy with Invisible Light” is the topic of a free public lecture on Thursday, July 16 in Waimea and Saturday, July 18 in Hilo. The speaker will be Professor Gary Davis, the Director of the Joint Astronomy Centre in Hilo.
Professor Davis will discuss the challenging work of two Maunakea observatories: the United Kingdom Infrared Telescope (UKIRT) and the James Clerk Maxwell Telescope (JCMT), which saw first light in 1979 and 1987, respectively. Both telescopes observe the heavens using forms of light which cannot be seen with the naked eye.
The 2009 Directors Lecture Series are special presentations to celebrate the International Year of Astronomy in 2009. IYA celebrates the 400th anniversary of Galileo using a telescope to explore the heavens. Galileo’s telescope was the first step to unlocking mysteries of the cosmos. These free lectures give the public a chance to learn about the latest research from the Maunakea observatories here in Hawai‘i. The lectures will be presented in two locations, the ‘Imiloa Astronomy Center and the W.M. Keck Observatory Headquarters.
