Description of Activities
NEW! A field trip will take place from 12-2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9.
As part of our Fall enrichment program, students will have the exciting opportunity to explore the field of pharmacy with a special field trip to the University of Hawaii at Hilo’s College of Pharmacy. This trip includes a short five-minute walk to the College of Pharmacy's on-campus building, where students will receive a guided tour of the state-of-the-art pharmacy simulation lab. During the visit, students will engage in hands-on, thematic activities designed to introduce them to the role of pharmacists and provide insights into pharmacy as a potential career path. This immersive experience will not only enhance their understanding of the human body but also inspire them to consider future possibilities in healthcare.
In each session, young explorers will participate in the featured learning units below:
Hana No‘eau Project-Based Learning: A week-long thematic project where participants will contribute their creativity to a collaborative community art piece or individual project that showcases their learning and inspires the curiosity of others.
Little Moments, BIG Ideas: This unit introduces thematic concepts through short and fun activities! Whether we are learning about an organism’s superhero powers or bringing stories to life through art or movement, these little moments will stick in a big way.
Curriculum Block: In this one-hour unit, young explorers will participate in place-based learning activities specially designed to spark their curiosity, grow their imagination, and strengthen their connection to our home, Hawai‘i.
Planetarium Program: Participants will enjoy a specially selected Planetarium program that fits the program's learning theme.
